I have a huge problem, I've had writer's block for over a month!! Almost 2 months!! It's really frusturating, cause I have a lot of ideas but when I sit down to write, it sounds like crap or nothing comes out!!
Please, I really need help!!!

I've found that when I can't think what to write, either just let it alone, don't force it, forget about it until you feel you can write again, or just jot down your ideas so you don't forget them, and leave it alone for awhile. That would be my advice.

No problem. Like I say, I'm not sure it will help you, but, well, it's worth a try! Good luck, and hope this helps!

What I do, since I usually have so many different ideas in my head at once, is write down one big free association jumble and then sort it out later when I'm all done writing.

Hello
Well i would read a lot as a wsriter its imperative that you read a varied selection of really good books or listen to as many as possible on tape or cd..Also put your own story out of your mind completely and concentrate on other things that really move you like music and lyrics often help.
good luck i know the feeling

Hi morningstar,
I have writers block for years, then something sparks an idea, and I just start. I'm not always sure where to start, but I just start somewhere. A ghost story was the last thing I'd written in years, then the whole reincarnation and disabilities discussion I started on e-pals gave me the idea, and that's how my blind halucinations story was born. Even then, I was always in danger of writers block, and not being able to finish the story. Sadly, now that I finished that story on e-pals, I will probably go in to writers block for another few years.

One of the things I do that has not already been mentioned is to just start writing about the fact that I cannot think of anything to write. Sometimes it is good to put all your frustrations down on paper. It is amazing how writing about a bunck of bull crap can lead you to a good piece of writing.

Yes, I've heard about this tactic as well. It's always worth a try. Similarly, I've heard if you're mad at someone or something, writing a letter to him, her or it and either keeping it for yourself, throwing it away or giving it to them when you're done? This writer's block remedy that Crazy Cat suggested reminded me of this.

Yes, that is also another good technique, but can lead to some pretty emotional writing. Well, at least it does for me when I use this technique. Makes for some very good writing though if you can handle the emotional part of it.

I really don't know. I will not say that i never get writer's block, because I do. my latest story, "Jewel" is going nowhere because this is how I am: I love adventure and excitement. And now I don't know what to do because it has started being not quite so exciting...

Ooh Alison, a new story? Can't wait to read it sis! And yes Crazy Cat, it can lead to emotional stuff. But good stuff at that!

The best way to get rid of writers block is this. Slam your head numerous times onto your monitor (this procedure works best with a crt monitor). As soon as your head starts gushing out with blood like Niagara Falls grab your mouse cord tie it around your neck and strangle yourself to the point of unconsciousness. After you regain consciousness first tend to your wounds and clean up the mess you made and check to see if the writers block cleared up. If this does not clear up the writers block then you must have not followed the procedure correctly. If at first you dont succeed then try and try again.
